How Can I Learn About Asthma from the Internet?

The Internet can connect you with information from around the world.

Asthma information can be found at different addresses (websites) on the Internet.

Internet information should not be used in place of medical care.

Is It Good Information?

Remember, anyone can put anything on the Internet. A search for asthma may identify more than 100,000 sites.

Look for well-known organizations. Question what you read. See the suggested websites below.

Who wrote the information? Do they work with known organizations, for example, hospitals or universities?

Is it easy to read and understand?

Where did the information come from? Does it seem complete? Can it be checked with other sites?

What is the aim of the site? Who is their audience? Who owns it? What do they want from you?

Is the information dated and up to date? Do links to other sites still work?

Other people having the same experience can offer support, but be careful.

Don't trust a site that says they can cure asthma. At present, there is no cure for asthma.
